  • Lost Diamond & Re Sizing issue Kay Jewelers @ Dayton Mall

I cannot express how thoroughly pleased I am with the staff at Kay Jewelers in the Dayton Mall. I received my beautiful Neil lane engagement ring and band in March 2014 from my fantastic fiancé, shortly after receiving the ring, which my fiancé purchased at a size 7 (I%u2019m a size 5) and one of the diamonds from the halo fell out. %uF04C I was distraught. I went into my local kay jewelers, which is not the store that my fiancé purchased the ring from, he went to a different location while he was training in another city, once there I spoke with the asst. manager Josh... • kay jewlers is a scam

i chose a three diamond ring priced at 5999, they knocked the price down to about 5137. yes it was a costly price but my husband was proud and i figured my daughter would love it as an heirloom . also the guys who sold us the ring claimed to be a veteran so we thought we could trust him. we finally moved back to the states 6 months later and i decide to have the ring appraised turns out the ring was valued at about 2000 dollars. so naturally i called the company and brought it up with them feeling like they took advantage of me. they were rude and unhelpful and refused to take back the... • Ruined my engagement ring 15.5 years old

4/19/2014 Do not trust Kay's!!! My ring bent after picking up a cinder block-nothing big but needed to be hammered out not resized. My husband and I took my ring to the local Titusville, FL Kay's to have the manager Richard tell us that nothing would happen because it is multi-billon dollar company. Well, they fully ruined my ring, then tried to play it off and then said hey we will send it back to buff it out. My ring mount was 100% different, my design of my ring was 100% changed and my ring was half polished and the gold was half the size. My husband and I told them how... More...

  • Bracelet stolen after submitting for sizing

How would YOU feel if after giving Kay Jewelers a new Russell Simmons bracelet to be sized correctly, it turns up missing after SIX WEEKS? The only work that needed to be done was having screws set after removing two links so that the bracelet would fit properly. I feel like a person would after being robbed by deception. The manager and the people working in the store were rude and indifferent to my situation, compounding the insult a customer feels when being treated in this fashion by a so-called reputable business. After reading the numerous complaints by other paying customers of this... More...

  • ANOTHER BAD EXPERIENCE AT KAY JEWELERS

Kay jewelers should sell used cars because there 5/5 warranty ( 5 minutes or 5 steps) applies the same. In my experience corporate did not stand behind there warranty of a lost stone even though it fell out within weeks of their lab resizing the ring. I waited six weeks while the ring was at Kay corporate and got it back unrepaired. The store employees did everything they could down to helping on the side. They too were extremely frustrated with Kay corporate to the point the store manager resigned. I wish I had read online reviews of these guys before I bought and from my experience I... More...

  • Kay Jewelers Broken Ring

I bought a ring from Kay Jewelers a year ago. It was my promise ring from my boyfriend. Since then, i have had it repaired four times due to the fact that where they sized it, kept splitting and pinching me. Ridiculous. And they refuse to send me a new ring. Not that the one i have isn't sentimental, but just the fact that four times isn't enough for them to give me a new ring and shut my mouth. I don't advise shopping here for jewelery, you won't get what you deserve for customer service. More...

  • Kay Jewelers broken ring and earring

i am shocked and so disappointed I didn't read the reviews before my purchase-in May I purchased a pearl ring and and pair of diamond earrings for my daughters graduation present. the ring broke in half after only 1month of wearing it-we had that fixed-now 7 months later the earring has broken. After calling Kay Jewelers and speaking with Anwar-one of the store managers-who told me "just bring in the earring to be fixed and I'll meet you half way" I will never go to that store again! I would never, ever recommend Kay jewelers to anyone, their customer service is horrible!!!!!! I took my jewelry back to the store for repairs, after having a diamond fall out of my ring after wearing it for 2 months!!! I decided to check Kay Jewelers reviews, I was so horrified after reading numerous complaints from several consumers, that I decided to take my ring to another jeweler that has been in business for over 20 years, and genuinely care about tbeir customers!!! • Neal Lane Engagement Ring from Kay Jewelers

My fiancé purchased a Neal Lane ring Kay Jewlers valued at $4,000 upon estimate from a local jewlers the rings actual value is 2,400. Kay jewlers stated that the diamonds were a high quality upon appraisal at a local jewlery store we were allowed to exam the ring under a very high quality microscope and informed the diamon was a very low quality, and the diamond from Kay does not have a serial number unscripted like most diamonds do from a quality jewler to track the ring incase of theft and insurance purposes and to make sure no jewlers can switch out the stone. • Poor Workmanship!!! Do Not Shop At Kay Jewelers!!!!

My husband and I in the spring of 2006 picked out a lovely engagement ring and two bands to match, with the plan of joining them together. The purchase was made at the Greenwood Mall Kay%u2019s in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Once we were married and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, I took my ring to the Mall of Georgia to have the bands joined together. I was informed that my bands would be sent to Jareds to have the bands joined together. The rings came back with less than satisfactory workmanship. • Kay Jewelers of Muskegon, MI took my $2,000 and won't give it back!

We brought my $2,000 watch in back in Nov. 2012 to have Kay send it out to TAG for a battery replacement and thorough clean as I do every 5 yrs. I never brought it before to Kay's though, because I heard how they threw away my friend's deceased mom's wedding ring (proof on video!) but it was the most convenient jewelry store. It came back BROKEN! They had the nerve to tell me that it must have broke in shipping and that it would be $1900 to repair. I called back and said another store told me it would be $900 to fix and them Kay said oh, yeah, it is only $900! It is now... More...

  • Russell Simmons Stainless Steel broken

I bought my husband a chain and pendant from the Russell Simmons collection from Kay. When purchasing it, I was told that since the items were made out of stainless steel that they would not break. Despite this, I bought a warrant on the items anyway. Low and behold not only did the stainless steel pendant break from the chain but the chain itself also broke on one of the links. In looking at the items you can clearly see where they were not welded correctly in the manufacturing of it. Of course, Kay says that my warranty was for diamonds only and not the metal. My fiancee and I went to resize our wedding band to kay jewelers at eastland mall columbus, ohio last december 1, 2012. We talked to the manager when we get there, of course i asked him that i would get the same ring back in the size we want it to be. We had a ring resized from 13 to 10.5. They called a week after and told us that the ring was ready to be picked up. so we went there that weekend dec. 15, 2012 to pick it up only to see the worst that i could see in a wedding band. obviously, they just cut the band off, reduced it and effortlessly put it back together. Boy do I have a lot to say about Kay Jewelers! I have bought a ring, necklace and watch from Kay. I had the ring resized because the original size 7 fits my thumb. They made the ring the wrong size and refused to do anything about it so I had to pay to have it resized a second time. We were told the watch was solid gold and stainless steel. Customer alert: If you buy a gift and want to allow the recipient a possibility to exchange, do NOT go to Kay Jewelers. Kay Jewelers issues refund only to original credit card - this policy makes gift exchange extremely hard. My husband bought me a very expensive white gold tennis bracelet in 2003. One of the links broke 2 years around February. I took it my local Kay stores in Brunswick Ga. They fixed. The following year - almost the same time of year - it broke again in the same spot. They fixed it. This month (January 2012) it broke again. But this I couldn't find it because it fell in between my car seat. Thank God, all 3 times it broke, it did so in my house or car. Kay Jewelers Comments

reviewer2435 says: (9 months ago)
 +1
I am never going to purchase from Kay Jewelers store #379 in the Galleria Mall again. I may not purchase from or recommend Kay Jewelers any more. I have in the past verbally sung the praises of Kay Jewelers. I am not a happy camper any longer. What brought me to this? I shall relate to you my tale of woe…
Earlier this year I had sent my daughter in to by some merchandise that was on sale for a deep discount. What she brought home was a poorly manufactured necklace and something I would not be seen in. When I asked if she had asked to see any others, she stated that she was asked by the person behind the counter if this one was okay. She stated it was. She told me that the lighting was not great where she was standing and she was in a bit of a hurry. Okay, so it is my daughter that accepted it and I have no room to complain. I could have returned the necklace but I really did not want to have an issue over a necklace my daughter accepted.
That is not what brings me to write this but it is part of my recent history with the store. So, I came up for a sale after they had contacted me by both mail and phone. This was several months after the first incidence. So a ring was on sale for, reportedly, one fourth the original price. I looked at the one they kept under the glass and purchased it. This was a ring of black and white diamonds in a pretty silver setting. I like the style and artistry. I had them send it out for sizing. What I got back was nothing like what I looked at originally. Part of the ring was a line of black diamonds (chips really). Unfortunately, about two fifths of the black diamonds were not black at all. They were an ugly yellow. I returned it to the counter person and said. This does not look like the ring I looked at and said I was not accepting it like this. The service person apologized and stated “they forgot to put the rhodium on it.” She stated she would send it back to have it applied, which she did. So I received another call stating it was back and ready to be picked up.
I picked it up and looked it over. The job they did applying the rhodium was not great but I put it on and left the store. Two hours later I used a public restroom and washed my hands. Imagine my surprise when the black came off of the ring on the area they had fixed! Lovely. So I take it back in to the store.
Now, I am not a happy camper when I have to return to the store yet again. I feel slighted. I feel taken advantage of. All in all, I am not happy with this store or the company at this point. So, I asked to speak to the store manager and I did not have a smile on my face. I never raised my voice, called any names, used any “deleted expletives” nor was I abusive to anyone. I was circumvented from speaking to the store manager by the Sales manager Amy. I told her I had just picked up the ring two days before and that quite a bit the black washed off the ring the first time I washed my hands. I did ask if they had colored it in with marker or something given that it just washed off so easily. I still wonder what they did truthfully. I said I wanted a new ring and that I want them to send the one I pick out. Not a different one. I stated that I expected quality. Now Amy, here was your opportunity to apologize that I had such a difficult time with this ring (no acceptance or admission of guilt). After all, this was the second time returning the same ring for poor quality. Instead of apologizing Amy felt it better to get angry, state that the ring was the one that I looked at before the ring was sized (Really Amy? I was there, you were not), that the heat had removed the black “paint”, that they painted it and that it did not cure (finger pointing). You are supposed to be the Sales manager. Is this the type of customer service you advocate? She further felt the need to tell me that she did not appreciate my accusing them of switching the ring and stated they would not have done that for a ring that cost that little (condescension). She stated twice that a ring only worth what I paid for it isn’t worth changing out (Really? The store advertised that it was worth four times that amount but that it was on sale. Hmmm).
Amy, you were my point of contact and the stores representative. I was already angry but willing to give your store another chance. You should have been gracious about correcting mistakes and apologizing for my being so put out. Instead you chose to get personally defensive and accusatory. I have been in customer service and I would never have treated an angry customer the way you treated me. I find your response is not customer oriented at all. Nor is it good for the company. I believe you need training.
I will return to the store to pick up the ring for the third time. If it is not of good quality, regardless of what I paid for it, I will be sending it to the VP in charge of retail sales at headquarters and will include a lengthy letter. Please prove to me once again that I wish to return to another Kay Jeweler and that quality is a hallmark of your brand.

Disappointed in St Louis

About a year ago, My fiance bought me a beautiful Neil Lane Diamond ring from Kay's. Within this past year, I have barely been able to enjoy wearing my engagement ring because I have had so many issues with it. My fiance and I have had 8 reported repairs on my ring!!!!! Diamonds have continuously fallen out and each time I get it repaired it's in the shop for about two weeks. One incident, an employee called to tell me my ring was finished and I could come pick it up. When looking at my ring in the store, the center stone was completely at a slant and not even centered right!!! Ladies, you should NOT have to deal with diamonds falling out of your engagement ring this many times!! Their return policy sucks, I have even called corporate and they will not give any money back to you after 60 days of purchase...they want you to find something else in the store of equal or lesser value. I ended up finding another ring that was $2,000 less and now I have to find something else in the store worth $2,000. What crap!!! I will NEVER shop in here again!!! MEN, do NOT look for engagement rings in this store, do your research first before buying!!!!!!

Kay has cheap shitty diamonds!!! I had upgraded to a princess cut solitaire diamond ring, 2,000 dollars and has a certificate of authenticity and apraisel. I have had this ring for 6 years now and since then I have had to have them fix the band because it had a big gash in it. They send it back and it still was there, not fixed at all and all the lady could say is, " I don't see anything"! Just recently I had got my hand smashed between two shopping carts and it had chipped my diamond!! What the heck, how can a diamond just chip?! Well I'm not going to bother bringing it back because I know they aren't going to fix their peice of shit anyway, money down the drain and I will NEVER buy jewelry from them again. Not quality at all, no matter how much you spend, it's still a peice of shit!!

As many others have posted, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! First of all, we are not the jewelry buying type, so we aren't familiar with the inspection policies. However, we were getting married and needed rings, we unfortunately chose Kay's! No one told us of the inspection policy every 6 months or the diamond guarantee would be voided. I haven't even had my ring for a year and one of the diamonds fell out. When I took the ring in, learned that my guarantee had been voided because I missed one inspection. Granted, that was my fault and I should have read the fine print, however the sales staff were not kind about it. Not customer friendly at all and no one seemed to care that their policy had not been explained to me! I left my ring at the store so they could provide me with an estimate for replacement. Someone called a few days later with the estimate. When I tried to return the call I got someone else, she asked me who called me the first time and I did not know, I have dealt with 3 people at this point. I left my name and number and just told the woman that I wouldn't be able to answer if she called me back because I was heading to work. She responded "What do you want me to do about it?" Her rudeness completely shocked me and I told her about it. That was Kathy at the Robinson Mall Kay's! My husband then called the corporate office and Dee took his call. We tried to explain our situation and he was rudely interrupted several times. Absolutely no customer service! We will never, ever, ever shop there again! Completely inappropriate behavior to be dealing with customers!

I took a pair of brand new dangling, diamond and pearl, white gold earrings to Kay Jeweler to be set on simple wires so that they would hang a little lower. I purchased them specially for my wedding. I was pleased that the price to change the post to a wire was quite reasonable.

I was told that it would be about ten days and that I would receive a telephone call when they came back to the store from the jeweler. Several days passed, and I heard nothing so I decided to call them to find the status. They said the earrings had come back. The next day, I stopped into the store to pick them up. They were set on lever backs and the pearls were covered in glue. It appeared as though they were ruined. My heart stopped because I knew they couldn't be replaced and they were to be paired with a similar necklace for my wedding.

They told me that they would send them back for cleaning and to put them on the wires that I had asked for. I was not going to send them back to the same jeweler who ruined the pearls and didn't do what I asked. I told them only to clean the pearls and not to allow the jeweler to do anything else to them. In the end, all they offered me was a $10 discount on the work. They also offered me a gift card for the value of the repair but anything I would purchase in the shop would require that I spend more money. That is the last thing that I would do.

DO YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!! KAY JEWELERS IS A SECOND RATE SHOP WHERE THE JEWELERS HAVE NO RESPECT FOR YOU OR FOR THE JEWELRY THEY REPAIR!!!

My husband bought me a new wedding set for our 20th anniversary, three years ago for $4500.00; I have been pleasantly surprised with their service and knowledge. He's even bought me a $2000.00 journey necklace and some earrings since, and thus far, we've had absolutely no problems with Kay's. At this point, I'd highly recommend them.

My 3/4 carat princess cut diamond fell out of my ring less than 2 years after it was purchased. Because I had not had it "inspected" at their store (I had it cleaned at Helzberg where I bought the wedding band), they will not guarantee it. The only thing they will do at this point is allow me to purchase a new diamond for $1,600 when I could purchase the entire ring new for $1,800. What a racket!!! DON'T SHOP AT KAY JEWELERS EVER!!!
